Hunter Biden, once a frequent target of Tucker Carlson’s attacks on the Biden family, appeared on Carlson’s podcast Monday and defended the far-right host against accusations of antisemitism before calling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “evil incarnate.”
Carlson also claimed during the interview that Israeli “agents” connected to Netanyahu had fed him false allegations that Hunter Biden’s laptop contained evidence of abuse of minors.
“I’m supposed to hate Tucker Carlson because he’s an antisemite,” Biden said. “I know you’re not an antisemite. I’m 100% sure you’re not. My point being is that if it’s antisemitic to point out that Bibi Netanyahu is evil incarnate, then … I don’t know what to say to people anymore.”
Carlson had spent years attacking Biden and his family while at Fox News, repeatedly highlighting allegations of corruption and making the laptop a centerpiece of his coverage ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
“The claim that there was material involving the abuse of minors on the computer came from the Israelis,” Carlson said. “I’m just telling you that they came to me with it, and that’s how I know it.”
The laptop became a major political issue weeks before the election after the New York Post published emails detailing Hunter Biden’s business dealings with Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company whose board he had joined. Other material later circulated from the device included explicit videos and images showing Biden using crack cocaine, having sex, and soliciting prostitutes, much of which was repeatedly covered by Fox News and the Post during his father’s presidency.
Carlson said the claim involving minors was different from the material that was actually found on the laptop, alleging that it had been pushed by Israelis and later wrongly blamed on Russia by former US intelligence officials.
“They [Israel] were behind it,” Carlson said. “I felt like everybody in Washington knew it, but there was so much pressure not to criticize Israel in any way that they just said, ‘It’s the Russians, it’s the Russians.'”
“Maybe the Russians had a hand in it, but it was the Israelis who were pushing that fact,” Carlson said. “One of the things that enraged me about the statement from those sleazy intel guys is that they blamed the Russians for it.”
“All the intel guys are like, ‘Oh, it’s Russia.’ It’s like, you lie. Because they called me, I sent one of my producers out to go meet with a guy who’s connected to Netanyahu. They were behind that, and I felt that everyone in DC knew that. But there was so much pressure never to criticize Israel in any way.”
“I didn’t say that on Fox News. I’ll admit it,” Carlson added. “I didn’t say it was the Israelis, which it was.”
For his part, Biden said he could not identify who initially obtained the laptop but argued that its contents were spread by a mix of foreign and domestic actors, including Russians, political opponents of his father, and what he described as a “Netanyahu operation center, the Israeli side.”
The comments echoed claims Biden made during a May interview with far-right provocateur Candace Owens, when he pointed to Israeli-American figures Gal Luft and Alexander Smirnov as key sources of corruption allegations against the Biden family.
Biden also used that interview to blame Israeli pressure for drawing Trump into the war with Iran, calling it “a war nobody wanted” and claiming previous presidents had resisted similar pressure.
The Iran war surfaced again Monday, with Biden agreeing with Carlson’s criticism of Fox News for pushing the United States toward conflict with Tehran. He also praised Republican lawmakers Thomas Massie and Marjorie Taylor Greene, both prominent opponents of US involvement in the war, saying “there are people who woke up” on American foreign policy.
Netanyahu’s son Yair pushed back on Carlson’s retelling of the laptop allegations, reposting an X post contrasting his comments to Biden on Monday with his own wildly different description of the laptop in 2020. The post noted that Carlson had then said Biden abandoned the laptop at a Delaware repair shop before it was handed to the FBI, while on Monday he claimed Israelis connected to Netanyahu had “shopped” material from it to him at Fox News.
