Israel completed a historic 7-4 win and took home the bronze medal at the Nissin Foods 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship at Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium in Tokyo, Japan, on Sunday.
The victory against Haudenosaunee marked Israel’s first-ever medal in the championship and the country’s best finish in the event in its fourth appearance, after finishing sixth in two previous tournaments.
This year, Sam Fisher made her first WL Women’s Championship appearance competing for team Israel and lead the attack in the bronze medal game with three goals, while four other players secured a goal each for the team. Fisher also completed the GILMAN Goal of the Game and was named the player of the match. She completed 13 points throughout her championship run this year.
“I feel like with this team, we have trust in every single person; every single coach. And we’re just trusting that our system will become one,” said Fisher. “It’s really nice to have trust in every single person on this team.”
Israel’s Julie Krupnick and Orly Sedansk together made 10 saves on 14 shots during Sunday’s game. Meanwhile, Jordyn Lipkin finished her six games for Team Israel with 19 goals and six assists for a total of 25 points, and Racheli Levy-Smith completed 63 in six games, with five in the bronze medal match, putting her in the lead in the entire tournament. Both Lipkin and Levy-Smith were picked to join the 10-player World Team.
Canada won silver at the 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship and Team USA won gold. America now has 36 consecutive wins at the competition starting from 2009.
